Feng Shui in the Bedroom

The bedroom is the place where we are at peace with ourselves while we sleep and recharge our tired bodies. Since we do not want distractions to bother us in this quiet environment, the positive chi as well as fresh air should be able to circulate well. To achieve a feng shui bedroom, these guidelines should help you.

The bedroom should be located away from the front door, if possible. This is called the command position. Your bed inside should not be positioned in between the door and any windows as chi usually travels in this direction. Arrange your bed far away from the door but in such a way that you can see the door from where you sleep. This position will give you a sense of inner security.

While sleeping, your head should be away from the window. This is because your energy will go out of the window and will make you feel tired when you wake up. Make sure, too, that your bathroom or toilet door is always closed while you sleep. Another thing to remember in protecting your chi and recharging it while asleep is to have a strong headboard. It is a feng shui belief that a stable headboard represents a solid mountain behind you while asleep and therefore provides great benefit. Keep in mind that chi goes in and out of the body through the feet, hands and the top of the skull.

Don't sleep with your image visible in the mirror and don't position a mirror at the foot of your bed as this is very negative.

For couples, the position of the bed in relation to the wall is very significant. Ideally, the bed should be in equal distance to the walls symbolizing equality in the relationship. Use a strong bed as well as it also denotes a solid relationship. Pastel colored beds are likewise ideal.

Bedside tables should have rounded edges instead of square to avoid cutting chi being focused towards the occupants. Matching bedside tables should be present if two people sleep on the bed to ensure stability in the relationship.

For lighting fixtures, soft lighting is best. If possible, don't use ceiling lamps directly above your bed.

Avoid the overhead beams, the low side of a slanted ceiling and an overhead fan in a room with low ceiling.

If possible, don't put your computer inside your bedroom as they are not compatible and should, therefore, be separated.

To inspire you at the start of your day, place a beautiful d'cor at the part of the bedroom where you usually first look upon waking up in the morning.
Finally, the space underneath your bed should be clear and free from unwanted things.
