The Feng Shui Cure

Feng shui in the home, office or any property assures the circulation of positive chi or energy. Practicing this ancient Chinese belief requires arranging and positioning a property or room as well as furniture and equipment towards favorable directions to avoid the negatives. This, however, is not always possible the reason why the so-called feng shui cure exists.

The traditional cures are normally used to redirect or disperse inauspicious chi in areas of the home that are out of balance or needs a change in the flow of energy. There are nine basic cures in feng shui but the most commonly used are the mirror and the crystal. These cures or objects absorb chi and use a certain form of energy like light, sound, wind, water or a combination of these energy.

Bright objects include crystals, mirrors and lights.

Sound includes metal wind chimes and bells.

Living objects that can be used are plants, fish bowls, flowers, birds, hamsters, iguanas, etc.

Moving objects may be mobiles, fountains and windmills.

Heavy objects can be stones, statues and large potted plants.

Electrical objects are also useful and may include stereos and fans.

Symbolic objects can be musical instruments, handmade items and things you love.

Colors may vary depending on what your home needs but red is the most common being a strong generator of energy.

Other objects like posters or art work and symbolic images related to feng shui may also be used.

For the crystals, you can use them in some common situations. One situation pertains to a poison arrow at a location where you spend a lot of time. A poison arrow is the area where two walls meet and form a corner. Chi usually circulates at a corner that points across your bed, the chair of your desk or other areas where you spend more time. You can cure this by hanging a 30 mm (for small rooms) or 40 mm (for large rooms) crystal using a nine-inch red string from the ceiling directly in front of the corner.

Other situations that need the crystal cure are when you have a long hallway with many doors, when there is a door in line with your bed or desk chair and you can't possibly move them and when you have stairs descending towards you upon entering the front door.

Mirrors are also useful in curing feng shui problems. For instance, you can use a mirror to reflect negative energy away from you coming from a poison arrow or a corner from another building outside your home or office. Place the mirror (at least six inches for small arrows and 12 inches for large ones) between you and that arrow ideally in a window with the mirror facing outside. For a circular driveway or a "T" street that ends at your lot, put a convex mirror in the landscape or a bagua-shaped mirror over your front door.

Other situations that can be cured by the mirror are when you have slanted ceilings, when you sleep in rooms above the garage or spend a lot of time there and when you want to attract something that is outside your energy field.
